Extraction & Disposal

Extraction & Disposal

Extraction & Disposal can be a simple and economic approach to a complicated problem, as with all remediation techniques, they nearly all do what they say in the title.

Expertise is needed to determine how to access the water, extract it, and then ‘dispose’ of it.

Access–  It’s important with any groundwater remediation to be able to access the water appropriately, the basic options include boreholes or sumps, both of which can be of many differing designs.

Extraction– These systems mostly fall into 2 categories, bulk extraction using tankers, on-going extraction using pumps to fill a storage tank.  Manual extraction is also possible and can be very effective and economic.

‘Disposal’– I put this in inverted commas as water are rarely disposed of, we usually send them to processing centres who separate the contaminants.
